A Celebration of Grandads!

Grandads play an important and sometimes overlooked role in families and the community. In celebration of this contribution, the Scone Neighbourhood Centre would like to invite grandads to an evening of celebration on Wednesday 28 March at the Neighbourhood Centre from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm for a free BBQ followed by a fun, informative discussion with Ray Muddle from Interrelate about what makes a great grandad. It’s a chance to meet other grandfathers, share your experiences and learn from each other.

Researchers have found that grandchildren who have a close relationship with a grandfather are likely to perform well in school, display positive emotional adjustment, have higher self-esteem, and a greater ability to develop and maintain friendships. Grandfathers who report having close relationships with grandchildren describe the significant joy they experience as a result.

Grandfathers make many invaluable contributions as a sounding board, as someone who can pass on positive values and provide a strong sense of family. We are offering grandfathers and even grandfathers to be an invitation to come along to a free evening to share their stories and tips about the joys of being a granddad.

To book your attendance phone the Neighbourhood Centre on 6545 2562 by close of business 24 March 2012.
